Harness a powerful tape delay then mash it up with some modulation and mess with the pitch with the capable help of the SolidGoldFX EM-III Multi-Head Octave Echo. Home to an enormous range of possible effects, the SGFX essentially takes the ever-popular Electroman and then throws in a healthy dose of extra functions. Starting at the beginning, the delay time can be adjusted in real-time between 70 and 1,000 milliseconds using the built-in tap-tempo footswitch, and then important elements like the Time, Repeat and Level can be intuitively dialled in using the provided set of pots. Via the Color pot, the resulting tape-delay effect can be nudged from one end of the spectrum to deliver a bright tape echo to the other end for warm analogue repeats for a more lo-fi feel. Another great addition is the Warp switch which when activated, sends the effect spiralling into extreme self-oscillation, building into a wall of sound. The Glitch function give the 'tape' an aged character, while the Flutter controls the modulation intensity - push it all the way to the left for a chorus-style response, and push it over to the left for vibrato. Basically, with a mere handful of control pots, a vast sonic landscape can be shaped and explored at will, and then, as soon as you throw in the extra mini-switch, the whole effect can be pushed all the way down by an entire octave, giving the sound more body and a thicker feel.
